Introduction

These are a collection of photos from the Al Gharbia Region (Western Region) of Abu Dhabi. For work and pleasure, I've made numerous trips into the Al Gharbia Region, to see the sand dunes, to go jogging in Mirfa, to spend some time in Delma, or for work - part of the urban and regional planning efforts of the UPC.

Delma

Delma is my favorite of all the municipalities. A secluded island, with the potential of having a really tight-knit community, all Delma needs is a good bike masterplan, some community facilities, and it will be a perfect getaway island with a nice pace of life. There are plans for tourism, but I just hope it doesn't ruin 'my' island. One small flight a day goes to Abu Dhabi, and Emiratis on the island get free flights. The other way is via Ferry from Jebel Dhanna.
